May Fishing Report – Tahoe Sportfishing
May was a fantastic month on the water, with our fleet landing 995 fish throughout the month.
May Catch Totals – more than double than last month!
- 979 Mackinaw Lake Trout
- 11 Kokanee Salmon
- 4 Brown Trout
- 1 Rainbow Trout
As Lake Tahoe continues to warm up, our crews have been finding consistent action for Mackinaw throughout the lake. Several quality fish were landed this month, including a beautiful 3-pound Rainbow Trout caught with Captain Zach, featured as our fish of the month.

While Mackinaw make up the majority of our catch, this month’s Fish of the Month is something a little different. On May 24th, Captain Zach’s guests landed a beautiful 3-pound Rainbow Trout in shallow water near Rubicon Bay. Rainbow Trout are much less common than Mackinaw on Lake Tahoe, making this catch a memorable surprise and a highlight of the month.

Despite a surprise round of spring snow last month, fishing conditions have remained excellent. Between the occasional storm, we’ve enjoyed calm mornings, comfortable temperatures, and some great opportunities for both first-time anglers and experienced fishermen alike.
Whether you’re visiting Tahoe for a weekend getaway or looking for a fun activity with family and friends, now is a great time to get out on the water.
